Martha and Mary (Click For Link)
Everyone knows the story of Martha and Mary in the Bible. Mary spent time with Jesus and listened to his teaching while Martha was working hard to prepare the meal to serve. Most teachers focus on Mary who was intent and focused on our Lord's teaching. But what about Martha? Someone needed to cook and serve the meal. Where are our Martha's today? Many see the Christian faith as a pursuit of teaching, personal growth and service within our churches. But Jesus spent most of His time outside the walls of the church serving others. Isn't that what we should be doing?

The command of the Great Commission is GO! Jesus did not present this as an option. We are called to make disciples of all nations. Jesus did not say it would be easy. In fact He said they will persecute us and the world will hate us (John 15), we will be rejected, we should deny ourselves and take up His cross and when we leave we should not look back (Luke 9). Yet, most importantly, we were instructed to GO! Are you ready to follow your Savior? Are you ready to live the life that Jesus has for you- the life that you were uniquely created for? |
